Mugabe caps 4 719 MSU graduands

The Midlands State University Chancellor President Robert Mugabe has capped 4 719 graduands at a colourful ceremony held in Gweru on Friday.
Among them were 632 who graduated with masters degrees while four were conferred with doctor of philosophy degrees.
46 percent of the graduands at the 13th MSU graduation ceremony were women.
There were also students from the kingdom of Swaziland who graduated with various degrees.
MSU Vice Chancellor Professor Ngwabi Bhebhe said the university will increase access to quality education that will in turn produce graduates who can pull the country forward.
"We therefore relentlessly sought out entrepreneurship. Preparations for the establishment of the faculty of medicine and that of mining sciences were now at advanced stage," said Professor Bhebhe.
Professor Bhebhe said the establishment of the medical school at the university will certainly improve public health service delivery in Gweru and beyond.
Among the graduates were ZBC News Producer Sphiwe Jama, sub-editor Shepard Chibune and Arts Reporter Tracy Mpala who were conferred with bachelors of science honours degree in media and society studies.
Radio Zimbabwe Producer Presenters Umpile Marupie and Thabanie Gambiza graduated with masters degrees in African Literature.
The icing on the cake at the ceremony was the music and musicology faculty that kept the gathering in awe with their rhumba beats and liberation war song "Nzira Dzemasoja".
