In an incident that exposes the opposition parties' weakness especially the Joice Mujuru's ZimPF which has been touted as a threat to the ruling party, Zanu PF candidate in the Bikita West by election Beauty Chabaya has won the polls beating her contenders with a wider margin.

The seat fell vacant after the incarceration of Munyaradzi Kereke who was convicted of raping his then 11 year old niece.

Chabaya was being challenged by five other contestants namely,  Kudakwashe Gopo (ZimPF), Madock Tatirai Chivasa (NCA), Tanyaradzwa Terrence Makumbo (PDZ) and two independent candidates Heya Shoko and Innocent Muzvimbiri.

She got 13 156 followed by ZimPF's Gopo who got 2453. The rest of the candidates got  a far cry of less than a thousand votes. Sadly the parties like PDZ and NCA were even beaten by an independent candidate who got over 700 votes while the parties got between zero and 400 votes a sign that there are far from impressing and convincing the electorate that they can govern the country as parties.
