A massive welcome reception for President Robert Mugabe at Harare International Airport is on the cards today with vice President Emmerson Mnangagwa likely to be humiliated.
Zanu PF Harare provincial commissar, Shadreck Mashayamombe confirmed said Mugabe's "massive welcome rally" as first reported by Bulawayo24.com on Thursday.
According to NewsDay, Mashayamombe denied that the rally would be used to humiliate Mnangagwa over his alleged growing ambitions to succeed Mugabe.
Mnangagwa was last December caused a stir when he was pictured holding a mug inscribed " I Am the Boss".
That was interpreted as Mngangagwa declaring his stance on taking over power from the soon to be 93 years old Mugabe.
Said Mashayambombe "We will, as usual, welcome the President. It is now our tradition, but this is just routine for us and nothing sinister about it.
"The President is coming tomorrow (today) and we are urging our members to come in their numbers. But our plans are dependent on his itinerary, which we do not have as of now".
On Mnangagwa, he said "We would never do that (seek to embarrass Mnangagwa) at the airport. It is not the way we do things.
"We are a peaceful people and are disciplined. If anyone wants to take advantage, we will see them".
Bulawayo24.com understands that Zanu PF supporters plan to print t-shirts inscribed "Mugabe is the real Boss".
