A member of the Zimbabwe Republic Police and the National Railways of Zimbabwe employee are in trouble for violating road traffic rules after they were arrested at a police road block.
Tarisai Mukucha an employee at the National Railways of Zimbabwe in the traffic section and Francis Gapare a police officer based at the Westgate Police Protection unit appeared before Bulawayo magistrate charged with violation of a number of traffic rules, among them failed to put on safety belt, failure to comply with instructions at road block, and obstructing a police officer.
They were lucky to escape the trial after their case was placed off remand due to lack of state preparedness. The matter will proceed by way of summons.
Allegations were that on March 3 this year the two were traveling in a car in the city of Bulawayo without putting safety belts. The police officer tried to block their arrest but they were later arrested.
