'Jobseeker' steals firearm from potential employer

Romeo Muzira, a resident of Harare, found himself in legal trouble after allegedly stealing a firearm from a potential employer while seeking a job as a domestic worker.
Muzira, aged 27, appeared before Harare magistrate Dennis Mangosi and was remanded in custody until tomorrow for a bail application.
According to prosecutor Thomas Chanakira, on May 10, Muzira visited the complainant's residence in Chadcombe in search of employment as a gardener. However, upon learning that there were no job vacancies, he left the premises.
Later, Muzira returned to the house and unlawfully entered, where he proceeded to steal a Special Astra 250 revolver firearm along with two rounds of ammunition. Additionally, he took a Lenovo laptop, an umbrella, a wristwatch, US$15 in cash, and a G-tel cellphone.
In addition to the theft charge, Muzira also faces allegations of contravening the Firearms Act after he was apprehended attempting to sell the stolen firearm.
