Condolences from Gautam Karve, Editor-in-Chief, World Media Organization to Zimbabwe following ferry accident

On behalf of the World Media Organization, I extend my deepest condolences to the families and loved ones affected by the tragic ferry accident on Lake Kariba.
Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone who has lost a loved one during this heartbreaking incident. We stand in solidarity with the people of Zimbabwe and with the authorities working tirelessly in the rescue, recovery, and support efforts.
This tragedy is a painful reminder of the importance of strengthening ferry safety standards, emergency preparedness, passenger protection, and regular safety inspections. The safety and well-being of passengers must remain the highest priority.
We hope the Governments and relevant authorities of Zimbabwe and Zambia, who share Lake Kariba, will continue to work together to strengthen maritime safety and prevent such tragedies in the future.
