The Director of Health Services Zanele Hwalima reported that 306 bodies were buried at West Park Cemetery in October alone with 8 of the bodies coming from South Africa and one from England.
She said West Park also had one body each from Bubi, Binga, Mangwe, Gweru, Mberengwa, Matopo, Lupane, Chinhoyi and Kwekwe districts and six bodies from Umguza district. Luveve Extension Cemetery recorded one body each from Harare, Umguza and Bubi districts.
Hwalima said a total of ten (10) cremations, (5 females and 5 males) were done during the month.
"The Committee considered the matter and councillor James Sithole sought clarification on the report," reads the council report. "He wanted to know how much burial space was left in the city cemeteries. He noted that most residents preferred West Park cemetery. In response the Director of Health Services explained that this would be detailed in the next report to be submitted to the committee."
