MINES and Mining Development Minister Obert Mpofu has said he has more cows than anyone in Zimbabwe and that his wealth was suspicious because many people were not used to having successful business people in Matabeleland, we reveal today.
Mpofu, who was responding to questions from journalists at the Harare press club over his suspicious wealth said he is the biggest rancher not only in Matabeleland but also in Zimbabwe and challenged anyone who has more cows than him to come forward.
"I am a big farmer by the way. I think in Matabeleland I am the largest rancher, not even in Matabeleland, the whole country.
"I want to know who has got more cows than me. And this is a for a long time. From 1993 I was a rancher," he said.
Mpofu went on to say his wealth was suspicious because many people were not used to having successful business people in Matabeleland.
He added that he does not regret being rich.
"But because you are not used to having successful business and I am one of them and I don't regret," he said adding "You say
whatever you want, I am a successful businessman and I will do what is good for my business but I am not into mining. Perhaps I will go into mining," he said.
Mpofu is the second Zanu PF Minister to cause a stir over his wealth after Local government minister Ignatius Chombo who has "filthy "wealth.
