AN Epworth woman was given a thorough hiding by her husband after he discovered that she had spent a night out with a boyfriend while he was away.
Nancy Mujokoro, 21, was beaten by her husband Simbarashe Chimbasa, 30, who saw a man getting out of the house she was in.
This came to light in a matter in which Chimbasa was convicted on his own plea by Harare magistrate Annie Ndiraya for physical abuse.
The two are said to be married for two years and have two kids together.
Mujokoro did not deny that she had spent a night with another man on the day in question that led to her being assaulted by her husband.
"I recall very well on the day 10th of July 2017 at around 2300 hours, I went to Greencroft Night club with my friend whilst my husband was away.
"At around 2am, I hooked up with a man at Greencroft and I came with him to my friend's place of residence.
"I had sex with him until 5am and by the time he got out my husband saw him and came knocking on the door whilst threatening to kill me," read the statement.
"I locked the door from inside but he went on to destroy it and gained entry.
"He dragged me outside and started assaulting me using his knees, he then head butted me on my face".
Chimbasa during mitigation told the court that he did not want to assault his wife but the fact that he caught her with another man led him to do that.
"It was not my intention to assault her but seeing another man getting out from the house she was in did not go well with me.
"She is my second wife and we have two kids together, so that is what pained me your Worship," he said.
Chimbasa was fined US$30 or 10 days in jail.
Devoted Gwashavanhu-Nyagano appeared for the State.
