Agony over failing coalition deal

A member of the People's Democratic Party has expressed agony over the seemingly failing coalition deal due to disagreements over some issues.
"I am shocked that this process of Coalition building has suddenly seen parties disregarding the important principle of consultation and consensus building within themselves as political institutions. There seems to be an attempt to create some kind of a new party in the name of a coalition by some leaders without the mandate or consent of their party members. Take Morgan Tsangirai for instance," he said.
"The man doesn't care if Thokozani Khupe and Company are alienated on the way to the ill-fated promised land. There is dishamormy in all properly structured and mass based parties such the PDP but one man band parties are happy. The tiny political outfits seem content with running into Morgan's burning Big Tent. Like typical parasites, they have no life of their own outside the so-called Big Tent."
He said they are the biggest winners in all this. A certain well known politician without a party is busy recruiting 32 members for his abandoned party who will also be fielded as candidates.
"All of a sudden people are telling us that we are anti Unity and calling us names simply because we have dared to question; so strange. This is not the PDP we founded and sacrificed our life for. This is not the party we left parliament to drive. I am shocked because we don't matter anymore. The most important thing now is to join up with Morgan and those who ask questions are labelled greedy and must be shut up," he said.
"Have you forgotten the struggle we had to fight just to control public perception in our leadership after the split of 2014? Have you suddenly forgotten how we protected our dear leader himself the day Elton Mangoma was beaten at Harvest House? For the benefit of Zimbabweans I am prepared to move on even with Morgan as long as we are together as a party and as long as we are united as PDP inside that arrangement."
"The principle of social democracy is nothing for us without us. If all these parties are certain that they have people let us give our people at least a 'fighting chance' in the primaries (interparty) otherwise you will be shocked come August 2018. I am a democrat and a staunch believer of a coalition politics which is all inclusive and is driven by the people," he added.
"If you want to tell the people of Bulawayo that Gift Banda and crew are suddenly votable you must be living in dreamland because you will be shocked at the end of the day. Good luck guys I am a greedy person, I have been told but watch the space."
