On arrival, Mugabe was greeted to loud cheers from thousands of Zimbabweans who were at the Harare International Airport to welcome him.

He was also met at the airport by Vice President Emmerson Mnangagwa, ministers: Miriam Chikukwa, Dr Sydney Sekeramayi, Simon Khaya Moyo, Saviour Kasukuwere, Kembeo Mohadi, Dr Joram Gumbo, Dr Joseph Made, Dr Chris Mushohwe, Mike Bimha and Patrick Zhuwawo.
