Masvingo Province should consider recognizing the late national hero Edison Zvobgo through naming a street after him, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Information Nick Mangwana has said.
"As we approach Heroes Commemorations, I think people in Masvingo should consider an Edison Zvobgo Street."
Mangwana added that other provinces should follow suit and honour their heros.
"Those in Mutare an Edgar Tekere, Midlands a Richard Hove etc. Which deceased luminaries do you think should be immortalised in your own area?"
Zvobgo was known mostly for having been the mastermind of the legislation that enthroned Robert Mugabe as leader of a single party state in Zimbabwe in the 1980s.
He had a reputation for his quick wit, sharp tongue, humour and being outspoken about the curtailment of civil liberties by ZANU PF in the late 90s and early 2000s. He died on 22 August 2012 after a long illness.
