Three days after their league match at Barbourfields was prematurely halted on Sunday due to crowd disturbances, Highlanders expressed their desire to face Dynamos in the Chibuku Super Cup quarter-final draw, which took place yesterday. However, fate had different plans as they were drawn to face other formidable opponents.

Dynamos will be facing FC Platinum, while Highlanders will host CAPS United in their respective quarter-final clashes.

Bukhosi Dube, Highlanders' representative at the Chibuku Super Cup draw, acknowledged the potential penalties his team might face for the violence that occurred on Sunday. He expressed his team's preference for a showdown with Dynamos, explaining, "If we had a choice, we would have preferred to play against Dynamos in the quarter-finals. Despite their lead in our league match on Sunday, I believe we would not have lost that game if the unfortunate incidents had not occurred. We are confident that Dynamos cannot defeat Highlanders, and we wanted to prove that in the Chibuku Super Cup. Nevertheless, we are now up against CAPS United, who are also known for their toughness but are beatable. While both teams have faced challenges in the league recently, this is a cup game, and I anticipate a tough match, but we will emerge victorious."

Dynamos' Secretary General, Webster Marechera, expressed confidence in his team's ability to win the Chibuku Super Cup, saying, "As Dynamos, we are comfortable and prepared to face any team in the league. We have been unsuccessful in winning the Chibuku Super Cup in recent years, and this is another opportunity to vie for the title. FC Platinum is a formidable team, but we are ready to take them on. We are a well-established brand and should be capable of winning these tournaments. In fact, we have the potential to secure the double."

Colonel Edward Mutukwa, Black Rhinos' Vice-Chairman, stated that despite their struggles in the league, they are determined to make an impact in the Chibuku Super Cup. They will face Chicken Inn in the quarter-finals, a team they eliminated at the same stage last season. Mutukwa commented, "We reached the semi-finals last season by defeating the same opponents, and we are eager to repeat that achievement this term. The Chibuku Super Cup offers a direct route to African competition. Although Chicken Inn is a tough adversary, we need to perform at our best. Our goal is to progress further in this tournament, reach the final, and win it."

Herentals, last year's finalists, will play Ngezi Platinum in the quarter-finals. Tariro Benza, their chairman, emphasized their intent to maintain their dominance over Ngezi Platinum, stating, "We have had the upper hand over Ngezi Platinum Stars in recent encounters, and we intend to continue that trend. Our matches against them are always thrilling, but we consistently achieve positive results. I believe the same will happen when we face them in the Chibuku Super Cup quarter-finals."

The matches are scheduled to take place in two weeks, with the venues yet to be determined.
