Three men from Eastview Phase 2, Mabvuku, appeared in court on Tuesday facing murder charges after allegedly fatally assaulting a man during a dispute over his girlfriend.

Makhosini Phiri (24), Rudolf Saramunda (20), and Renias Kanjera (23) were arraigned before Magistrate Ruth Moyo and informed that, as the case involves a third-schedule offence, only the High Court could consider their bail application.

The victim, 27-year-old Evans Magirazi of Damofalls Phase 4, Ruwa, was reportedly attacked on December 24, 2025, at around 4am outside Club Zion bar at Wenera Shops in Damofalls Phase 4. Prosecutor Lawrence Gangarahwe told the court that the accused had a heated argument with Magirazi over his girlfriend. The confrontation escalated, and the three men allegedly assaulted him, striking him on the head with an unknown object and causing a deep cut above his right ear.

Magirazi was rushed to Parirenyatwa Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. A post-mortem later confirmed that the injuries sustained led to his death.

In a separate incident, an 18-year-old from Kuwadzana appeared in court after allegedly stabbing a man in the stomach during a confrontation that resulted in death. The accused, Mtandazilwa Gumede, was remanded in custody and informed that his bail application could only be addressed by the High Court. He is expected back in court on January 20, pending the completion of investigations.

Prosecutor Gangarahwe told the court that the incident occurred at Lakers Night Club in Kuwadzana. Gumede was with his younger brothers when he was informed that a man, later identified as Nyasha Chagunda, had allegedly stolen his brother's cap. A heated argument ensued between Gumede and Chagunda, who was accompanied by another person.

During the altercation, Gumede dropped a knife from his pocket. When a witness tried to intervene and stop him from picking it up, Gumede allegedly pushed the witness aside, retrieved the weapon, and stabbed Chagunda once in the stomach before fleeing.

Chagunda was found bleeding profusely, with his intestines exposed, and was rushed to the hospital by police from Kuwadzana Station, but he died the following day from his injuries.

Both cases underscore ongoing concerns over violent confrontations in social settings, highlighting the fatal consequences of disputes that escalate into deadly attacks.
