Mnangagwa returns from AU Summit

President Emmerson Mnangagwa has returned home after attending the 39th Ordinary Session of the Assembly of Heads of State and Government of the African Union (AU).

He arrived at Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport where he was welcomed by Vice Presidents Dr Constantino Chiwenga and Dr Kembo Mohadi, Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services Minister Zhemu Soda, Permanent Secretary Mr Nick Mangwana, Wicknell Chivayo, Service Chiefs and other senior Government officials.

During the summit, President Mnangagwa addressed fellow Heads of State and Government and held bilateral meetings with several leaders on the sidelines to discuss areas of mutual interest and cooperation.

At the summit, Burundi's President Evariste Ndayishimiye assumed the AU Chairmanship, taking over from Angola's President Joao Lourenço.

The annual gathering of African leaders focuses on key continental issues including peace and security, economic integration and development.
