Electoral body learns of referendum dates through media

The Zimbabwe Electoral Commission learnt of the referendum dates through the media and is frantically seeking a waiver from the State Procurement Board to enable the electoral body to purchase poll equipment without going to tender as required by law.

ZEC insiders yesterday said the referendum date was made public without prior consultation and communication.

The referendum date is set to be gazetted today.
