Chicken Matty employee jailed for theft

A 27‑year‑old Chicken Matty employee in Bindura has been jailed for four years after stealing ZWL$360 156.17 from his employer.


Kushinga Denis Zhuriyano was convicted by Bindura magistrate Felix Chauromwe, who conditionally suspended 18 months of the sentence.

Prosecutor Sheila Maribha told the court that between 6 October last year and 23 January, Zhuriyano was entrusted with two bank cards by his employer to purchase goods for Chicken Matty outlets.

Instead, he reportedly went to money changers in Bindura, exchanged the Zimbabwean currency for United States dollars, and converted the money to his personal use.
