THE Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has clarified that one of the suspects wanted in connection with a series of armed robbery cases is not the Zimbabwean musician known as Mambo Dhuterere.

The clarification follows a police press statement announcing the arrest of Tinei Makaripe (47), Pungurayi Mukumbachaza and Gabriel Mukumbachaza (41) in connection with several armed robbery cases in Ruwa, Rusape and Harare.

In the statement, police had listed an outstanding suspect identified as "Mambo Dhuterere" among several accomplices who were still at large.

However, the ZRP has now clarified that the name does not refer to the popular Zimbabwean musician.

"The ZRP clarifies that one of the outstanding suspects referred to as ‘Mambo Dhuterere' is not the Zimbabwean musician known by that name," police said.

The clarification removes the musician from the list of suspects linked to the robbery cases and follows reports that had created confusion over the identity of the individual being sought by police.

Police are continuing investigations into the armed robbery cases and efforts to account for the outstanding suspects.
