A 60-YEAR OLD Zvishavane man was slapped with a two-year jail term after he was found in possession of marijuana, which he claimed he uses to vaccinate cattle.
Hebert Maposa of Mandava Village in Zvishavane pleaded guilty to unlawfully dealing in mbanje when he appeared before Chipinge magistrate, Mr Clemence Ngweshiwa.
However, 10 months of the sentence were set aside on condition that he does not commit a similar offence in the next five years.
Public prosecutor, Mr Thembalami Dhliwayo, said the accused was arrested by the police on February 26 this year.
"Maposa was in a Bulawayo-bound Zupco bus at around 4am when CID officers acting on a tip off raided the bus to conduct a search. They found three kilogrammes of dagga stashed in his satchel and he was subsequently arrested," he said.
Maposa begged for leniency and told the court that he wanted to use the dagga to make concoctions which he uses to vaccinating his herd of cattle.
