MDC-T leader Mr Morgan Tsvangirai on Sunday congratulated President Mugabe's daughter Bona for tying the knot with Mr Simba Chikore last week.
Bona tied the knot with Mr Chikore at President Mugabe's private residence in Harare at an event that was attended by African Heads of States and Governments and other high profile dignitaries.
According to the Herald, Mr Tsvangirai delivered the congratulatory message while addressing party supporters in Mabvuku where he immediately begged President Mugabe to co-opt him and other parties into Government.
"Aihwa tinoti makorokoto kuna Bona wakachata (we say congratulations Bona wedded)," he said.
"Saka isu programme yedu iri very simple. Baba Chatunga neZanu-PF huyai tiite national dialogue tiwane solution to the national crisis yatiinayo (So our programme is very simple. Mugabe and Zanu-PF, come and we engage in national dialogue to get a solution to the national crisis we have).
"Ngatidaidzanei tese mapolitical parties, machurches, mastudents vana ani vese tigadzirise dambudziko raona vana ava." (Lets meet as political parties, churches, students, everybody and solve this problem we are seeing)
MDC-T insiders intimated that Mr Tsvangirai was now desperate to join the Government to boost his financial coffers.
He became financially handicapped after Western donors who bankrolled the party since 1999 ditched him late last year following his crushing defeat by President Mugabe in the harmonised elections held last year.
After the heavy defeat, Western countries started to view Mr Tsvangirai as a spent force.
The donors are believed to be now funding a faction led by MDC-T secretary general Mr Tendai Biti which is calling for leadership renewal in the party.
MDC-T insiders said Mr Biti is using deputy treasurer general Mr Elton Mangoma as his Trojan Horse.
During his tenure in Government as prime minister, Mr Tsvangirai accustomed himself to a lavish lifestyle largely reserved for the oil rich Gulf Sheikhs and Emirs.
It was the same time when he became a globe trotter, changing several women and enjoying expensive holidays where ever he so wished.
To show his financial desperation, Mr Tsvangirai on Sunday begged his followers to contribute towards party programmes.
He said in 2006 they asked party members to sell goats to raise funds for the party congress.
"Chimwe chinhu chatinoda kuita kumusangano tinoda kuita remoblise maresources (The other thing we have to do is remobilise resources)," he said.
"Ndonzwa zvangu vamwe vanhu vanotaura kuti MDC yabroker (I hear some people saying MDC is broke). MDC will never go broke. Tinoita mudeme mudeme party yedu ichienda kumberi. Congress ya2006 takati vanhu tengesai mbudzi."
