SUSPECTED Zanu-PF fugitive, Stabiliser Kadafi, alias "Chuck Norris", who has been on the run after he was implicated in the murder of an opposition MDC-T activist in Kadoma in the run-up to the 2008 presidential election run-off, has been arrested.
Kadafi, who is now standing murder trial at the High Court, is alleged to have vanished after the murder of John Max of the MDC-T on August 25 2008.
The State alleges that Kadafi committed the crime in the company of Nobert Muzhingi, Thabani Mashonganyika, Sikhumbuzo Madhuveko and Mangisi Mutandavari,
His co-accused persons separately appeared before High Court judge Justice Felistus Chatukuta early this year and were sentenced to effective 15-year jail terms each.
According to the State, Kadafi and his accomplices dragged Max to bushy area at Tiger Mine and attacked him all over the body with switches.
The court papers read in part: "They accused him of being a political sell-out and being a State witness in an assault case against them during the presidential run-off elections. After assaulting him, the accused (Kadafi) ordered that the deceased (Max) immediately vacate his residence and he ordered patrons at the beerhall to converge at the deceased's residence to effect eviction."
However, in his defence before High Court judge Justice Ester Muremba, Kadafi denied involvement in Max's murder, although his accomplices had cited him as the brains behind the heinous crime. Kadafi, however, claimed that he witnessed the attack.
His trial continues tomorrow.
