The Committee of Elders mandated to organise the forthcoming Zimbabwe National Liberation War Veterans Association Congress has reiterated that the congress will be convened this month at a date to be announced.
The committee Chairman, Patrick Nyaruwata said there is no meeting on Thursday in Harare, so war veterans should not come to Harare as they are being misled by rogue elements championing the views of the beleaguered leader, Jabulani Sibanda.
Member of the committee, Victor Matemadanda said those that are resisting what President Robert Mugabe said are sellouts and wish to undermine the authority of their patron.
ZBC News is reliably informed that ousted war vest leader, Jabulani Sibanda wanted to organise a secrete war veterans congress at the Harare International Conference Centre (HIIC) using some foreign funding which however did not materialise, leaving him and his team without a venue.
Sibanda did not inform all war veterans' structures and planned to come up with a new executive which would however be illegitimate.
While addressing war veterans last week, President Mugabe who is their patron mandated Nyaruwata and Mutemadanda with organising a congress to reorganise before the party's congress that starts on the 2nd of December.
This was after Jabulani Sibanda had been ousted over perceived treasonous comments claiming that President Mugabe wants to stage a bedroom coup on Vice President Joice Mujuru.
The war veterans congress has been slated for the 15th of this month where a new leadership to replace the Sibanda executive will be ushered in.
Meanwhile, the Zanu-PF Politburo member, who is also the Chairperson of the Masvingo Fundraising Committee for the December congress, Dzikamai Mavhaire has confirmed that the province's is prepared towards the mobilisation of resources for the congress.
Mavhaire confirmed this soon after convening a Provincial Coordinating Committee (PCC) meeting which saw the formation of subcommittees on resource mobilisation.
The meeting was held at Chiefs Hall in Masvingo under heavy police presence, ostensibly to avoid a violent situation similar to the one which took place at Victoria Junior School, resulting in the cancellation of the meeting.
Mavhaire also condemned the violence that rocked Sunday's meeting, claiming that there are some divisive elements within the party who are out to suit their personal needs.
Politburo members who attended the PCC meeting include Michael Mawema, Kudakwashe Bhasikiti and other senior party officials.
Other members who did not attend were reported to be attending a pre-budget seminar in Hwange.
