Zanu-PF has been accused of destroying the transport sector and other economic ventures which the country used to have as from independence up to the beginning of 1990s.·
Alois Matongo said Zanu-PF's has committed a trail of destruction to urban commuter transport.
HE said earlier he had talked about the days of profitable and healthy traditional beer businesses run by urban councils but that have since all been destroyed by ZanuPF's policies of chaos and corruption.
"Today we relive the days of another industry similarly destroyed by the same Zanu-PF: the urban commuter transport," he said.
"At Independence in 1980 we had the safe, efficient and reliable United buses each operated by a driver-cum-conductor with the help of a ticket-checking machine. Zanu-PF then began the destruction of this orderly system by allowing emergency taxis that ranged from Peugeot station wagons 404s and 504s to Nissan pickups. Then came the kombis. And now commuters are being packed like sardines (up to 10 passengers) in mini hatchbacks such as the Toyota Fun Cargoes, Honda Fits and others of that type (second photo)."
He question as for how long shall Zimbabweans watch in akimbo as the so called revolutionary party destroys everything good in this country?
"We have lost our agriculture, our manufacturing industries, our mining and our dignity as a nation," said Matongo.
He also questioned how one can explain Minister Orbert Mpofu's recent policy change plans to ban kombis and phase them out for what he calls "large volume buses" and bicycles.
