Twenty-two marriages were terminated on Thursday by the High Court with the consent of the involved parties in divorce proceedings brought about by various factors.
High Court judge Justice Erica Ndewere presided over 36 divorce cases, 22 of which she granted decrees of divorce.
The remaining cases were either postponed for a number of reasons including technicalities such as access to children rights and maintenance issues.
All the 22 annulled marriages were done by the consent of both parties and the court had been satisfied that the property acquired, the interests of minor children including custody and maintenance were properly catered for.
Among the marriages terminated was that of Mhondoro Ngezi legislator Mike Gava and Tendai Wenyika who were joined together in holy matrimony less than 3 years ago.
In some of the postponed matters, Justice Ndewere was concerned with the parties clarifying grey areas such as the interests of their children.
