A Harare man allegedly fired three shots towards his brother following a family dispute, but missed him and shot a passer-by in both legs.

Rockford Munjoma (52) appeared before Harare magistrate Mr Temba Kuwanda facing two counts of attempted murder and contravening the Firearms Act.

He is expected in court on November 17 for trial.

The court heard that Rockford is the owner of Country Flavour Restaurant at the corner of Jason Moyo and Fifth Street in Harare

Prosecutor Mr Norman Tsarwe alleged that on August 19 this year at around 11am, Rockford's brother Frank went to the restaurant to see him.

They intended to discuss a family matter and Frank decided to wait for him after failing to locate him.

It is alleged that a few minutes later Rockford arrived and an altercation ensured between the siblings.

Rockford drew his Norinco pistol and fired thrice towards Frank, but missed him .

The court heard that the bullets hit Masline Moyo who was sitting in a Nissan Sunny parked nearby.

Moyo was allegedly grazed on her right wrist and shot in both thighs.

One of the bullets was lodged in her right thigh and on August 25 she was operated on to remove the 9mm bullet head.

It is alleged that Rockford acquired the firearm on July 11 last year for security reasons and supplied his address as number 786 Zimre Way Mandara in Harare.

Rockford allegedly changed his address, but did not notify the Central Firearms Registry in accordance with the Firearms Act.
