Crossborder Bus Awards set for November 2011

The Crossborder Bus Operators Association (CBOA) has provisionally set that the Awards Gala and Operators Meeting be held Thursday 17th of November 2011 at the Rainbow Towers Hotel, Harare, Zimbabwe.
CBOA say it came up with the concept of awarding best excelling companies in order to create an environment of excellence within our members operations. This environment we hope allows our members' passengers to enjoy the best services.
The criteria used to choose the best performing members is available on their website and the criteria differs per category.
The selection panel for these awards shall be total independent from the normal structures of the association. Adjudicator shall be drawn from the Zimbabwe Republic Police National Traffic Province, Ministry of Transport, Communication and Infrastructural Development's Road Motor Transportation Department (RMT) and Vehicle Inspectorate Department (VID), Crossborder Road Transportation Agency of South Africa, Scanlink Private Limited (official Scania dealer in Zimbabwe), SFG Insurance Company, Irizar Southern Africa, MCV Manufacturing Commercial Vehicle, Lionshare Holdings etc.

CBOA currently has 33 members (bus companies) covering at least 6 countries in the SADC region, namely Zimbabwe, South Africa, Zambia, Malawi, Botswana & Mozambique.
The Association has come a long way in improving the quality of the bus services in Southern Africa. Some of our achievements include the clearing of all hired and non-permit carrying buses from the Harare/Bulawayo/Gweru – Johannesburg Routes and introduced unity and co-operation amongst members to an extent that members are now providing free transportation for passengers affected by accidents or breakdowns.
