High Court rebukes Mugabe on war veterans stance

Acting war veteran's chairperson Mandiitawepi Chimene has been blocked by the High Court from holding meetings to elect new leadership.
According to state run Herald, Justice Joseph Musakwa today granted an interdict also stopping the group from interfering with the activities of the association led by Christopher Mustvangwa.
This is a sharp rebuke to President Robert Mugabe who last week ordered war veterans to elect new leadership.
War Veterans Minister Tshinga Dube on Sunday said he will beg Mustvangwa to step down as chairperson.
Mustvangwa was recently expelled from Zanu PF.
Just yesterday, Zanu PF Politburo also expelled "rebellious" war veteran's leaders Victor Matemadanda, Francis Nhando, Douglas Mahiya and Headman Moyo.
Matemadanda was arrested Tuesday when he attended Mahiya's bail application at Rotten Row Magistrates court.
Matemadanda and ZNLWVA vice-chairman, Headman Moyo and the association's Harare executive member, Wayne Bhila were granted $300 bail each on Wednesday morning, a day after Mahiya was released on $300 bail on the same charges that are resulting from a communique issued by the war veterans organisation.
