Heartless uncle allegedly rapes one year old child

In an incident that exposes high level of heartlessness, a 24 year old uncle allegedly raped a one year niece who was left in the custody of her siblings by their mother.

This was heard by Hwange regional magistrate Dambudzo Malunga when the man who cannot be named to protect the victim's identity appeared in court charged with rape.

The mother of the minor broke into tears while giving evidence in court against her brother.  The child' siblings told the court that they saw their uncle abusing the minor. This matter was further remanded for continuation.

Prosecutor Bheki Tshabalala told the court that  on April 5 this year the mother of the child left her in the company of her siblings when  their uncle arrived and rapped the minor.

When their mother returned she discovered that the child was crying and on examining her she discovered that she was swollen on her private parts. Her siblings told  the mother that their uncle was the one who sexually abuse the child. A report made to the police led to his arrest.
