A political analyst Petros Joseph Dube has said the history being taught at Zimbabwean schools has a lot of distortions and is biased against the Ndebeles.
"The history taught in our schools is totally biased , they are trying by all means to portray the most millitant Matebele warrior King Lobengula as a weak and stupid king who gave away his country in exchange of a wheelchair and a 2kg of sugar. When European settlers arrived they occupied Mashonaland for more than two years without any resistance before proceeding to Matebeleland," Dube said.
"No treaty or agreement was signed when they invaded Mashonaland but thousands of treaties were signed including the Rudd Concession which was not fully explained to Lobengula when they moved to Matebeleland."
"When Mzilikazi arrived Mambo voluntarily submitted to him and agreed to pay tax or tribute to him. Mambo and Mzilikazi were never enemies, they were good friends. Mambo knew that his Kingdom will be much safer under Southern Africa's greatest king in history Mzilikazi Khumalo," he said.
"Coming to our liberation history they rarely mention the role played by Zipra but they keep praising Zanla (Opasi). The likes of Lookout Masuku were once denied hero status. It is well known that Opasi were the most cowardly regiment, they never won any face to face battle against Rhodesians most of them surrendered and involuntarily joined Rhodesian forces. They were good at terrorising innocent villagers in Matebeleland."
Dube said they also don't mention that Mbuya Nehanda was hanged for witchcraft and prostitution.Again they didn't mention that the Mutapas raided the Korekores ..
