Chicken thief cheats death after brutal assault by cousins

A suspected chicken thief is lucky to be alive after being severely assaulted by his three cousins, who caught him roasting the stolen bird in the bush.
The incident came to light at the Plumtree Magistrates Court, where the complainant, Khangelani Muda, dragged his cousins to answer to an assault charge.
Mthethwa Gents (37), Maxwell Dube (40), and Mdumseni Ndlovu (18) pleaded not guilty before Magistrate Joshua Nembaware, who remanded the trio in custody to October 6.
According to the state, led by prosecutor Sheila Nyathi, the incident occurred on September 8 around 2:00 AM. Muda allegedly stole a live chicken from his mother's residence and fled into the bush.
The trio later found him grilling the chicken over an open fire and questioned him about its origin. Muda admitted to stealing it from home.
The three men then reportedly attacked him, beating him so severely that he lost two teeth.
The matter was reported to the police, leading to the arrest of the trio.
