Prominent Mat South businessman, Maphakela Moyo, dies

PROMINENT Matabeleland South businessman, Maphakela Moyo, has died.
He was 84.
Moyo died at the United Bulawayo Hospitals (UBH) on Monday after a short illness, his family said.
Family spokesperson Khumbulani Ndlela said the Late Moyo would be buried at his rural home in Mawane village, Gwanda, on Saturday.
"Moyo was a hardworking man whose immense contribution in business shall always be cherished by the people in Matabeleland South and the Midlands provinces where he owned a number of general dealer outlets," said Ndlela.
In 1995 Moyo won the Standard Chartered Bank rural businessperson of the year award.
During his life time, he has mentored a number of people who now own successful enterprises.
"He has mentored a number of businesspeople in Matabeleland South and the Midlands," Ndlela added.
At the time of his death, Moyo owned general dealer outlets that include Thabani Shine Store in Insiza, Bambazonke Shopping Centre in Insiza and Woza Store in Dolo Mberengwa.
He was also involved in livestock production at West Nicholson.
Moyo is survived by wife Lydia, eight children and several grand children and great grandchildren.
