Open Letter to Bulawayo

01 Sep 2018 at 08:43hrs | Views
Dear Bulawayo City Council, Bulawayo Residents, and MDC Alliance leadership in Bulawayo

I propose that with immediate effect measures be taken to recall Bulawayo's Ward 24 Councillor Arnold Batirirai Dube from serving Byo as MDC Alliance councillor. The reasons for the recall are as follows;

1. Attending the taking of oath ceremony whilst heavily intoxicated.

2. He has shown great disrespectful attitude to the City Fathers and City of Bulawayo by turning up late and very intoxicated. This shows that he doesn't value the essence of his role in the City Chambers. He has no respect for his colleagues he expects to work with. His attitude towards his work and fellow councillors is stinking like sewers we expect him to deal with as our councillor!

3. Arriving late and intoxicated on the very first day at his work place as representative of Ward 24.

The Councillor has shown astonishing disrespect for residents and the City of Byo, and the party he represents.

4. Bringing the name of the Alliance into disrepute. He can not be examplary as a leader with his unbecoming and unacceptable behaviour. He has made residents believe that the Alliance has bad representation when it is only one disrespectful individual.

The Councillor has shown total disregard and disrespect of his colleagues, his party, the City Chambers, the City residents, Ward 24 residents who voted for him. With his unbecoming behaviour, he can not represent my wishes in the Council. As a rate payer, l propose that the MDC Alliance leadership in Bulawayo recall Councillor Arnold Batirirai Dube. A clear strong and uncompromising message must be sent to all elected local govt and national public representatives that residents and voters demand the best service from them, and want them to carry out their duties in a sober mind and in a very civil and respectful manner.

I would be profoundly grateful to see hear how you proceed with my proposal.

Kind Regards

Ndaba Nhuku

A Bulawayo rate paying resident.

Note:

1. Should l get no response from Bulawayo City Council, l will with old my rate for all my properties in the City. I will encourage other residents to do likewise.

2. If the MDC Alliance decides not to respond, l will withdraw my party membership and support from the Alliance on the basis that we have parted in the values l hold dear and expect of those representing my wishes in my City.

3. Should l not get a response and support from the residents of Bulawayo, l accept that you are content with the unbecoming and unacceptable mediocre leadership of people like Councillor Dube. If you are content with them, you will have no basis to complain should the City deteriorate as a result of their lack of commitment to it and their total disregard and disrespect for their role and the service provision of the City. Once l see that you are happy not to second this proposal, l will devote myself to being a loyal MDC Alliance member expecting arrogant and  mediocre leadership from Bulawayo City Councillors.

On that note, l strongly recommend that Councillor Dube should immediately be recalled from Bulawayo City Chambers. Bulawayo must set a precedent of not accepting mediocre, arrogance and drunken behaviour from elected officials serving it's residents.

Thank you Bantu bakoNtuthuziyathunqa.
