Ajax Hotspurs Under 16s continued to huff and puff so did Highlanders Academy who wobbled as the pressure continues to mount in this tight age group. Hotspurs who are dropping points willy-nilly have themselves to blame as twice they have surrendered 2-0 leads in injury time to allow their opponents to claw their way back to salvage a point.

Ajax were seemingly on the driving against Chicken Inn with exciting winger Velile "Mahewu" Siziba got a brace for the defending champions before the drumstick boys equalised at the death through Promise Moyo and Godknows Ngwenya.

Ajax was shocked and bamboozled when the chickens got dancing. With a touch of luck Siziba could have stolen the winner deep into injury time when his mazy run saw him stroll past a cluster of Chicken Inn defenders and when he came face to face with the keeper he tripped and fell at the most crucial time. That moment summed up the frustrating three weeks for the reigning champions who sired uncontrollable after the final whistle. In the under 14s, Ajax Hotspurs pinned Chicken Inn for greater periods but a touch of luck eluded them in front of goals. They however took the lead through Muziwandile Ndlovu who unleashed a screamer outside the 18yard box which Brian Mundoda spilled into his own net. Eleven year old Nkulumane Primary School wonderkid Nyasha Garayi was outstanding for Ajax Hotspurs defying odds with a commanding display that left neutrals asking for more.

The wonderkid is endowed with shear speed, trickery and power behind the ball. The usually reliable Denzel Khumalo tried one trick too many and when he lost possession, Chicken in were quick off the block using the counter to good use and they equalised through Ronald Kavaru who beat the heavily exposed Reward Muza. In the under 18s Ajax Hotspurs were roasted and turned into wings and drumsticks by a determined Chicken Inn who pummeled the Mpopoma based outfit into submission.

The drumstick boys turned out to be the man eaters with an emphatic 3-0 whitewash that left Ajax Hotspurs asking themselves what had hit them. Exciting and sure footed VIctor Mpofu was the toast of the day tearing apart hesitant Ajax Hotspurs into shreds with a well taken brace. Divine Lunga could have equalised for Hotspurs soon after Mpofu's first goal but unbelievably shot way and over under the crossbar. It was indeed easier to score than to miss and that was the turning point for Hotspurs who suffered their third and worst defeat of the season at the hand of their Njube neighbours. Usufu Issa put the icing on the cake for the drumstick boys with a well taken volley that flew over airborne Vincent Chidembo to mark wild celebrations for their manager Simba and the senior team Coach Philani "Beefy" Ncube. What a performance from the drumstick boys they were the worthy winners of this exciting derby that kept fans spellbound and on the edges of their seats.

Meanwhile champions elect Highlanders Academy under 18s sent Magwegwe Young Stars to the cleaners with a rugby like scoreline when they outran, out-thought and outfoxed the Magwegwe based outfit 17-1 the record scoreline for for Serie A this season. The Magwegwe based outfit who are alleged to have tried to cheat their way into stardom by beating Highlanders were taught total football on a day that their senior side failed to emulate the youngstars in a derby match agaisnt Chicken Inn. Bobby Nkomo weighed in with 6 goals, Trevor Ndlovu scored 4 with Jerry Sibanda's son Mgcini scoring a hatrick. Mncedisi Gumede scored two with Lucky Ndlela and Nqobile Mpofu scoring a goal apiece.

Magwegwe Young Stars were left with an egg on their face when trying to use over-aged players whose licences were taken by the referee for further investigations at ZIFA. This is a sad note on the efforts to develop talent in the city as some teams are forgetting the whole concept of junior football. In the under 14s Bosso had to summon all their energy to beat Magwegwe 1-0 at the death to trek away from the chasing pack. Second placed Bantu Rovers could only conjure up a one-all draw with E.M Sports at Sotshangane grounds. Rovers went on to win 2-0 in the under 16s before wrapping up the day with a 1-0 win in the under 18s. Obedience Siwela was the scorer of the solitary goal for the defending champions Bantu Rovers.

F.M.H Academy found the going tough against Makhandeni City Pirates falling in the under 14s and 16s losing 1-0 and 2-0 respectively. The Famona based outfit however restored parity when they held City Pirates to a one all draw. Magwegwe North based BSE Academy continued their steady rise with a well calculated wins in the under 14s and 18s winning 1-0 and 2-0 respectively they were however humbbled 3-1 in the under 16s. The Serie A League is now coiling up to a exciting relegation fight as the law of averages will be used to relagate for teams into lower tier Serie B Pool A and Pool B.
