Former Big Brother Africa (BBA) housemate, Maneta Mazanhi, has landed a role in popular South African soapie Isidingo.

The Bulawayo-born beauty believes breaking into Isidingo will propel her fledgling acting career to new heights.

"I am an actress by profession and I have been expanding my horizons," Maneta told the Daily News yesterday.

"It is a small role; I play Nandi, Jefferson Sibeko's receptionist. I heard they were auditioning so I went for the auditions. You must have an agent for you to be able to audition, they are strict on that," she said.

Maneta, however, was quick to point out that her debut episode on Isidingo still hasn't been flighted on television yet.

"They shoot two months in advance so I haven't been on screen yet. We shoot once every week and it is quiet hectic. The day starts at 6am and finishes around 5pm. But I am not complaining; I am very grateful for the role. It is a great opportunity for me to be part of the Isidingo family," she said.

Maneta, whose acrimonious fallout with urban grooves star Roki on BBA season seven led the two Zimbabweans to be expelled from Africa's biggest reality show, told the Daily News that the Isidingo role is one of several she has landed in recent times.

"I acted in three Nigerian movies which are yet to be released. I can't say much on my roles in these movies because my directors advised me not to say much until the productions are finished. But when it's done, I will share it on Twitter. It is a continuous contract and I am still shooting," she said.

The former BBA star added, though, that getting acting roles in foreign countries is not a stroll in the park.

"As a foreigner to actually land a big role is difficult but I am grateful that I did it," she said.

Though she has clinched a role on Isidingo, Maneta has no immediate plans of relocating to South Africa.

"I cannot say that I am based in South Africa. I am there whenever we are shooting. I don't want to actually settle there. I am not rooted there. I come back as often as possible," she said.
