SOUTH African house music maestro, Thato "DJ Fresh" Sikwane is set to perform in Bulawayo at Horizon Pub and Restaurant on Saturday.

DJ Fresh is one of the biggest names in house music and has over 20 years experience as a radio DJ which adds to his flavour whenever he takes to the turntables.

He is expected to produce another sizzling performance when he goes on the turntables during what has been dubbed the "Shorts and Shades Party".

The show has become one of the most anticipated events that await house fans in the City of Kings since the DJ Zinhle show.

DJ Fresh has even added the event to his upcoming gigs diary on his website. The show has already been cleared by the National Arts Council of Zimbabwe.

Show promoter Mduduzi Mdlongwa of 3D Events Management said the show is a continuation from the DJ Zinhle show held at the same venue last month.

"As an event management company, our aim is to bring top entertainment to Bulawayo and to make the city a vibrant entertainment hub that is why we brought Zinhle and will have Fresh on Saturday," he said.

Mdlongwa said the Shorts and Shades Party was a summer take-off gig and an event meant for happy people as we get into the festive vibe.

"It's been a long year and it came with its challenges.

"The party will kick off in the afternoon and will go on until late into the night. There will be supporting acts from DJs such as Victor Bravo, Otis the Flow, Gibson Ncube, Joe the OG, Black Cee, Slimza and Keezy," he said.

Also known as the Big Dawg, DJ Fresh has released more than 13 successful albums and is known all over the world for his exquisite skills on the deck.

Born in Botswana, DJ Fresh started out on radio in that country in the early 90s and from the minute he held the mic, he knew that broadcasting was the only career for him.

He subsequently dropped his law studies and pursued radio full time, joining South Africa radio station YFM in 1997.

By 2003, Fresh had risen through the YFM breakfast team and was quickly snapped up by 5FM in 2006, where his show Fresh Drive has since become one of the station's most popular shows.
