MARTIN Sibanda and Ndolwane Super Sounds are set to perform at Shangano Arts Festival, which will be held from 29-31 October in Tsholotsho.
The annual festival is celebrating its seventh year anniversary and will be held in Tsholotsho for the first time under the theme "Keep It Alive, Long Life To Cultural Diversity."
The three-day celebrations will be taking place at the Better Schools Programme Zimbabwe (BSPZ) grounds, where different artistes will be showcasing their products.
In an interview, Shangano Arts Festival director, Petros Ndlovu said Tsholotsho was prepared to host the arts fiesta and hoped the event would be a success.
A number of artistes have shown interest in participating in this year's festival and artistes that will perform include Ibhewe Top Stars (Lupane), Binga Traditional Group, Simunye Arts (Victoria Falls), Makishi (Victoria Falls), Kalombe Ngoma Buntibe (Binga), a poet from Zambia, and Lusumani Puppets.
Ndlovu said the people of Tsholotsho have to embrace the festival because they needed local support in all their activities.
"We will have different theatre plays and the launch will be on the second day from 10 am until 2pm. That same day we will have an all night gala which will feature Martin and Ndolwane, as well as other provincial groups. This is an opportunity for Matabeleland North province to show its talent," he said.
Last year the arts festival was held in Kariangwe, in Binga and this is the second time for the festival to be held outside Hwange. The other five editions were held in Hwange.
Ndlovu said they were taking the festival to other places in Matabeleland North, so as to celebrate the country's cultural diversity.
"This is all about celebrating our country's cultural diversity. We want to give other people who have different cultures a chance to express themselves through song and dance. Tsholotsho residents should come in their numbers," said Ndlovu.
"We hope the people of Tsholotsho and the surrounding areas will come and grace the festival. We will be entertaining people as well as educating them," he said.
The annual Shangano Arts Festival is being co-ordinated by Culture Fund of Zimbabwe with the National Arts Council of Zimbabwe providing technical support.
