17 Nov 2014 at 15:13hrs | Views
BACKGROUND
ZIMWORSHIP is a gospel ensemble that was formed in September 2013. The project is a brainchild of two childhood friends, Edward Mushuna and Sonny Mashambanhaka who grow up together in 52nd street, New Canaan, Highfield. Highfield is a musical township that has given Zimbabwe such great music icons as Oliver Mtukudzi, Tanga wekwa Sando, Timmy Makaya, Jabavu jazz Band, extra-large and many more.
The dream to form a band that would sing to Gods' glory started during our early teen hood, and it has been through determination, perseverance, hard work and faith in God that this has finally become a reality. Strive Masiyiwa of Econet wireless and Exodus Makumbe , of Exodus & company are our local heroes, their humble life and business achievements will forever be an inspiration to us. Musically, inspiration has been drawn from listening to the music of the legendary Baba Mechanic Manyeruke, Sharon Manyika, Kirk franklin, BeBe & CeCe Winans, Marvin Sapp, Helen Baylor and Keith Green.
We foster a vibrant and inclusive choir through providing training, creating opportunities and engaging Zimbabwe's diverse and unique cross section of humanity in the transformative power of gospel music. We believe that gospel music draws humanity to its creator, enriches our lives, unites and builds strong communities.
The Zimworship ensemble, a mixture of ethnic and economic backgrounds, operates from the heart of the nation, Harare but has a vision to reach out to all urban and rural corners of the nation and identify talent and nature it. Though our backgrounds are diverse, all of us in the choir have been lifted up and saved by God.
As an altruistic duo, we want to be remembered by the present and future generations for uplifting the name of God, drawing humanity to its creator, and also for helping the magnalised, vulnerable, underprivileged in our society. Charity and humanitarian initiatives are at the core of our hearts and therefore we call on organisations that look after or advocate for the protection of children, women, youths to contact us so that we can cooperate and collaborate free of charge in these worthy causes.
