GOLD selling, award-winning singer, Berita Khumalo, has added another accolade to her already impressive resume after scooping the Music Artist of the Year award at the annual Zimbabwe Achievers Awards (South Africa).
The awards ceremony held at Hyatt Hotel in Rosebank, Johannesburg at the weekend also saw top South African hip hop artiste, Cassper Nyovest being honoured in the Friends of Zimbabwe category.
"I feel privileged to be honoured by my home country for the work I've done thus far. It's been an amazing year," said Khumalo.
Early in the year, the Bulawayo-born musician won the Songwriter of The Year at the annual Wawela Music Awards which took place in June.
"This accolade is very special to me. I'm really humbled by the number of accolades I've received this year from Zimbabwe to the Eastern Cape. I'm inspired to work harder and hope to cross even more boundaries."
The remix of Khumalo's latest single, Mwana Wa Mai, which features industry heavyweights Oliver Mtukudzi, Hugh Masekela and Black Motion, is on high rotation on various radio stations in Zimbabwe and South Africa. Its music video is sitting on position three on the Zambezi Magic, Zim Top 10 chart show.
Famously known for her hit single Thandolwethu from her debut album Conquering Spirit, Khumalo has two albums to her name with the latest, Songs of Empowerment, having been released in December last year. The album boasts an impressive collection of songs mostly written and co-written by Khumalo.
