Handover of classroom furniture and soccer balls to Tjewondo Primary School in Matobo District by the Rotary Club of Bulawayo South

On Wednesday 22nd October, 2014 members of the Rotary Club of Bulawayo South led by their President Mr. Alvord Mabhena, travelled to Tjewondo Primary School, 120 km from Bulawayo towards the Matopos National Park, to handover classroom furniture for  the school's Early Childhood Development Class (ECD). They also handed over fifteen new quality soccer balls donated by the Collin Nyabadza Children's Voice Charitable Trust to Tjewondo, Lingwe and Marinoha Primary Schools who each received five balls.

The money Cdn1 500 (USD1 309) for the school furniture was sourced by a former teacher at the school, Mr. Collin Nyabadza from the Rotary Club of Swift Current, Canada where he is also a member. It was then sent direct to the Bulawayo South Rotary Club who managed to purchase 40 little chairs and 4 big tables for the little kids.

The funds for the soccer balls AUD500 were also donated to the Collin Nyabadza Children's Voice Charitable Trust by an amazing 11 year old Australian boy, Marc Millar. The money was also sent to the Rotary Club of South who made the purchases and travelled to hand over the items.

In a message sent through the Bulawayo Rotarians, Mr. Nyabadza promised to source more equipment for the school and others in the district which also happens to be one of the five districts which his organisation assists. The others are Binga, Bubi, and Tsholotsho. We wish to take this opportunity to thank the Swift Current Rotary Club and Marc Millar for kindly helping with the funds and also the Bulawayo Rotarians for using their time, energy and resources to ensure that the equipment was bought and delivered to the children. Last but by no means least, we wish to urge all Zimbabweans to take an active part in helping provide equipment to poor rural schools.
