AN injiva from Bulawayo's Nkulumane suburb yesterday appeared in court for stealing three vehicle wheels from a police officer's house.
Honest Kamanga, 27, stole the wheels from his neighbour Marizani Alidi, 37.
He pleaded guilty before West Commonage magistrate Abednico Ndebele who sentenced him to six months imprisonment.
He will, however serve three months after Ndebele suspended three on condition that he does not commit a similar offence in the next three years.
Kamanga said he stole from his neighbour because he wanted to support his family.
"I was tempted to steal from Alidi because of the economic situation. I just came from South Africa two weeks back. I've children to support and I decided to steal. I admit that I did wrong and I won't do it again," said Kamanga.
Prosecuting, Maria John said on December 9, 2015 at 11PM Kamanga gained entry to Alidi's yard and stole three vehicle wheels.
"The three wheels worth about $300 were recovered," said the prosecutor.
The court heard Alidi found Kamanga inside his yard at around 11PM.
Kamanga said he had come to discuss an issue concerning Alidi's maid who had resigned a week before.
The court heard that on December 10, 2015 at 7AM Alidi found the vehicle wheels missing and he consulted Kamanga to assist him.
He was arrested after Alidi got suspicious when he discovered Kamanga had jumped over the pre-cast wall into his yard.
He saw Kamanga's footprints leading from a section of the wall, the court heard.
