A MAN from New Lobengula suburb in Bulawayo has been arrested for allegedly stealing property worth about R16,000 at a house in Lobengula West.

Polite Ncube, 19, allegedly broke into Bright Phiri's house on Wednesday last week. Ncube appeared before Western Commonage magistrate Themba Chimiso facing charges of unlawful entry and theft.

He pleaded guilty and was remanded in custody to today for sentence. Prosecuting, Steward Madzore said on May 11 at around 9.30PM, Phiri left his house for the city centre.

"The complainant secured his house by closing all the windows and locking all doors. During his absence accused person used a metal bar to force open the locked door and gained entry into the house," said Madzore.

"While in the house the accused stole the following property: black plasma Sansui 40 inch television, Sansui DVD player, one blackberry cell phone, two remote controls, red jacket, light brown jacket, two caps, eight T-shirts, four pairs of shoes, six leather belts, two black tracksuits, three blue jeans trousers, four pants, two white caps, five pairs of socks and a Nike three quarter short," said Madzore.

He said Ncube was later arrested leading to the recovery of some of the property. "The value of stolen goods is R16,000 and the value of those recovered is R12,000," said Madzore.
