Gwanda Community Youth Development Trust has claimed there is alarming number of rape cases as the community joined Africa in celebrating the 16 days of activism.
"We have an profusion of rape and violence against women in Gwanda Districts, statistics have proven a huge increase in rape cases especially on young girls as compared to last year's records surprisingly such has never treated as a civil rights or human rights issue and or a crisis," said the organisation.
"We also note that since the 25th of November, the day that marked the start of 16 days of activism against gender based violence to date, 13 rape cases have been held in Gwanda Magistrate Courts- we also acknowledge that there are some rape cases that have gone unreported."
The organisation said as CYDT it condemns these barbaric and inhuman abuse to fellow girls and young women.
"We call upon the government to declare an "Anti Rape Campaign" where even those who think they have escaped the long arm of law will be brought to book. We say "Violence doesn't have a race, a class, a religion, or a nationality, but it does have a gender," said the organisation.
