The political commentator Pedzisai Ruhanya has said the commission of inquiry set by President Emmerson Mnangagwa was set up to discredit the MDC Alliance for allegedly sparking violence which led to the shooting of seven civilians in Harare during the announcement of election results.
"Have not seen a robust and rigorous rebuttal by the MDC Alliance of the Commission of Inquiry set by ED. My analysis of the terms of reference, its composition suggests that its aimed at discrediting, weakening, prosecuting the MDC Alliance. This is the reason why the commission does not aim at the role of the army in the extra-judicial killings and the killer soldiers who remain free," he said.
"ED and ZANU PF will not invite a former head of state and ex-Commonwealth chief if they do not have compelling COOKED UP evidence, cooked up videos, cooked up recorded opposition phones calls discredit Nelson Chamisa, Tendai Biti etal. ZANU PF will use the outcome to arrest ple and force the opposition to accept its Pyrrhic victory. ZANU PF wont embarrass itself; Forget about the so-called internal strife in ZANU PF."
