HUNDREDS of people from Filabusi in Insiza District have gathered at Avoca Clinic to take advantage of free medical services provided under a health outreach programme spearheaded by the family of Vice President Constantino Chiwenga.

The initiative, which aims to bring essential healthcare to underserved communities, has seen an overwhelming response. Yesterday, the programme was successfully rolled out at Singwango Clinic, where hundreds of locals benefited from a variety of services, including consultations with specialists, free medicine, and essential health screenings.

As part of the outreach, the elderly were also provided with grocery items, maize seed, and clothing, while persons with disabilities were given wheelchairs to assist with mobility. These efforts are part of the Godlwayo Healthcare Outreach Programme, which has been designed to address the healthcare needs of vulnerable populations.

The medical team, which includes specialists such as gynaecologists, orthopaedists, urologists, general surgeons, neurologists, and nutritionists, is on the ground to offer consultations and treatment. The specialists, alongside a dedicated team of nurses, lab technicians, pharmacists, and dieticians, are providing comprehensive medical care at no cost to the patients.

One of the highlights of the programme has been the free eye treatment offered at Filabusi District Hospital. Today, Colonel Miniyothabo Baloyi Chiwenga visited the hospital, where hundreds of patients have received eye care, with several undergoing eye surgery. Some patients have also received spectacles to improve their vision.

Colonel Chiwenga is scheduled to address the community members who have gathered at Avoca Clinic to express their gratitude for the medical services.

The outreach programme is being conducted by a medical team of 28 personnel, ensuring that a wide range of healthcare needs are addressed. The programme has already made a significant impact on the local population, and organizers are hopeful that it will continue to bring much-needed relief to the communities of Filabusi and beyond.

Through these initiatives, Vice President Chiwenga's family is demonstrating a strong commitment to improving healthcare access and quality for some of Zimbabwe's most underserved populations.
