Nyanga community radio station manager, Stanford Muhowa (34), was acquitted of assault charges by Nyanga Magistrate Notebulgar Muchineripi last Friday.
The case, led by State prosecutor Beverly Chatindo, alleged that on 2 September 2025, at Nyangani FM studios in Nyanga, Muhowa assaulted journalist Yolanda Simango (31) by slapping her once on the face with an open hand.
According to the prosecution, Muhowa had called Simango, accusing her of spraying unknown anointing oil at the station's main gate and of falsely reporting him to the Human Resource Manager. While apparently attempting to retrieve some keys at the Nyangani FM cottage door where Simango was standing, Muhowa allegedly slapped her once on the face with his right hand.
Magistrate Muchineripi cited inconsistencies in Simango's evidence and consequently set Muhowa free, bringing the case to a close.
