VUNGU - Traditional leader Chief Sogwala has praised the Second Republic for what he described as a transformative rollout of the Constituency Development Fund (CDF), saying the initiative is revitalising key infrastructure and improving livelihoods in rural communities.
Speaking in Vungu, Chief Sogwala expressed gratitude to President Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa for the timely disbursement of funds, which he said had brought tangible development to both Sogwala and Mdaka villages.
He highlighted the revival of the Sogwala piped water scheme as a major milestone, noting that the facility had been non‑functional since 2017, leaving villagers without reliable access to clean water.
“The restoration of this water system marks a turning point for our communities. For years, people struggled to access safe water, but today we are witnessing real change,” Chief Sogwala said.
He added that the progress reflects government’s commitment to inclusive development under its ‘leaving no one and no place behind’ policy framework.
According to the chief, the soon‑to‑be operational water system stands as clear evidence that development is now reaching even the most remote parts of the country.
Chief Sogwala further linked the infrastructure improvements to the broader national vision of achieving an upper‑middle‑income economy by 2030, anchored on the philosophy “nyika inovakwa nevene vayo” (a country is built by its people).
“The pace of development we are seeing gives us confidence that Vision 2030 is achievable. These projects are not just improving lives — they are laying the foundation for long‑term economic growth,” he said.
The remarks were captured in a video circulating on social media, where the traditional leader elaborates on the impact of the CDF programme in his area.
