Police have arrested four suspects in connection with a stock theft case after they were allegedly caught offloading a stolen beef carcass at an unlicensed butchery in Waterfalls.
According to the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP), Kudzai Madamombe (23), Natasha Madamombe (29), Claudious Ndamabani (22) and Simon Mukaro (29) were arrested on April 24 in Retreat, Waterfalls.
The suspects were allegedly apprehended while offloading a beef carcass from the boot of a Honda Fit vehicle at an illegal butchery. Police investigations have since established that the carcass had been stolen from Beatrice.
The arrests are part of ongoing efforts by law enforcement agencies to curb stock theft, which continues to pose a serious threat to livestock farmers across Zimbabwe.
Meanwhile, police in Gwanda have launched investigations into a fatal hit-and-run accident that occurred on April 24 along Sudan Street. An unidentified motorist struck a 43-year-old pedestrian who was attempting to cross the road, resulting in fatal head injuries.
Authorities said the driver fled the scene without stopping, and have since appealed to members of the public for information that may assist in identifying and locating the motorist.
The incidents highlight ongoing law enforcement challenges ranging from organised stock theft to road safety violations, with police urging greater public cooperation in tackling crime.
