Madzikatidze’s ruling on refusal of further remand set for 14 September

HARARE – A ruling on an application for refusal of further remand in the case involving journalist Gideon Madzikatidze has been set for Monday, 14 September 2026.
This was confirmed by defence counsel Godwin Giya during court proceedings on Thursday. Giya said the application was filed on the basis that the State had once again failed to provide a trial date and the required State papers.
The State has been ordered to file its response by next Wednesday.
The matter will return before Harare Magistrate Ruth Moyo on 14 September for the ruling.
This development forms part of ongoing discussions around case backlog and trial delays within the justice system.
