Tino Machakaire has been confirmed as the guest of honour for the Zimbabwe Achievers Awards UK 2026, which will take place in Birmingham from May 15 to 16 at the National Conference Centre.

The visit is being presented as part of broader efforts to strengthen engagement between Zimbabwe and its diaspora community, particularly in areas such as investment, entrepreneurship, skills transfer and youth development.

Machakaire is expected to deliver a keynote address at the ZAA Diaspora Investment and Skills Forum, where diaspora professionals, investors and business leaders will discuss opportunities linked to investment, global skills mobility, artificial intelligence, innovation and the growth of creative industries.

Organisers described the minister as one of Zimbabwe's emerging young political leaders with a strong focus on youth empowerment, vocational training and entrepreneurship. Before entering government, Machakaire was involved in business, a background organisers say has helped shape his emphasis on enterprise, innovation and self-reliance among young people.

Conrad Mwanza said the minister's participation reflects the growing importance of youth empowerment, diaspora engagement and skills development in Zimbabwe's future.

Under Machakaire's leadership, the Ministry of Youth Empowerment, Development and Vocational Training has also intensified campaigns against drug and substance abuse while promoting vocational skills development and youth participation in national economic programmes.

The Zimbabwe Achievers Awards, which has operated for more than 15 years, recently signed a memorandum of understanding with the International Organization for Migration to strengthen diaspora engagement and skills exchange initiatives.

The two-day programme will conclude with a gala dinner and awards ceremony celebrating Zimbabwean achievers in sectors including business, academia, arts and culture.
