Chivayo upgrades coach Rambo’s reward to Fortuner GD6

Businessman Wicknell Chivayo has upgraded the reward he recently awarded renowned diver and rescuer Coach Rambo, following widespread public admiration for his role in recovering three bodies from a sewage-filled pit in Budiriro, Harare.

Coach Rambo, whose real name is Victor Kazembe, had initially received a Toyota Aqua in recognition of his bravery during the rescue and recovery operation that captured national attention earlier this month.

However, Chivayo announced on Wednesday that he had decided to further reward the veteran diver after being impressed by his gratitude and the support shown by fellow bikers and friends who accompanied him when he collected the vehicle.

In a social media post, Chivayo said Coach Rambo's appreciation for the gift reflected humility and gratitude, qualities he believes are deserving of greater recognition.

He instructed the rescuer to return and collect a brand-new Toyota Fortuner GD6 2.4D, together with US$5,000 for fuel and related expenses.

Chivayo also announced that the Toyota Aqua originally gifted to Coach Rambo would now be transferred to his wife, who will additionally receive US$5,000 in cash.

The businessman extended the gesture further by rewarding 49 bikers who accompanied Coach Rambo during the vehicle handover, saying each would receive US$1,000.

The latest reward follows widespread praise for Coach Rambo after he volunteered to retrieve the bodies of three victims from a hazardous sewage pond in Budiriro under extremely difficult conditions.

The operation drew national attention and sparked an outpouring of support from Zimbabweans who commended the diver's courage and willingness to assist grieving families.

Coach Rambo, who has participated in numerous rescue and recovery missions over the years, described the Budiriro operation as one of the most challenging assignments of his career.

His actions earned praise from members of the public, community organisations and business leaders, with Chivayo among the first high-profile figures to publicly recognise his efforts.

The upgraded reward means Coach Rambo will now receive a new Toyota Fortuner, while his wife becomes the owner of the Toyota Aqua, in addition to the cash awards announced by Chivayo.

The gesture has generated widespread discussion on social media, where many users have continued to celebrate Coach Rambo's bravery and dedication to public service.
